no pictures needed April 10, 2009 Susan W. Shepard (Redwood City, CA USA) This is a terrific cookbook-especialy the recipe for chicken enchiladas-it does not need pictures to make it a good book. The whole concept of needing pictures in a cookbook is beyond me. I co-authored a cookbook that sold thousands upon thousands of books with nary a picture and never heard one complaint about the lack of them.
Too much fat January 19, 2009 D. Slade 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I like the flavor combinations suggested in the recipes, but the liberal use of butter and heavy cream is shocking to me. I didn't think people really cooked like that anymore. I will be returning it because a freezer full of calorie bombs doesn't help me so much as hurt me.
Fantastic Book January 8, 2009 Faye Weaver (Spokane, WA USA) This is a great book, full of easy to follow recipes. I found a recipe for every occasion.
What A Great Find! May 29, 2008 loulew (Portland, OR United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When my hubbie and I needed to go across the state to help out my uncle and aunt (both in their 80s) after a hospitalization, I was able to make up several (one very easy, one a bit more work) dishes before we left to take with us. What a great thing to just be able to pop an already prepared meal into the oven for a bit. What I really enjoyed is that these recipes are a blend of casserole types so not all of them have a rice or noodle base.
The recipes we tried were absolutely delicious and I have ear-marked many others to fix. The only thing I could see as a drawback is no nutritional values are listed.
you've got it made May 11, 2008 M. A. Freeman (Florida) This is a superior book for those who like to get the work done ahead of the dinner so they can enjoy their guests. The recipes I've tried so far have really wowed our guests, especially the appetizers that were wrapped in puff pastry. I love Diane Phillips books!
