Amazon.com Review
This heavy-duty pressure cooker's large capacity is probably best utilized for canning (though it would also be great for a number of cooking tasks). A pressure cooker is generally recommended when canning vegetables and nonacid fruit, since the high heat that can be generated will kill more bacteria than a regular hot water bath. Made from cast aluminum, with sturdy screws to seal the lid to the pot, this pressure cooker requires no rubber or plastic gaskets or rings. Its 21-1/2-quart capacity holds 19 pint jars or 7 quart jars. A three-setting pressure regulator valve is included, and the pressure gauge gives a clear reading. Made in Wisconsin, this is an American classic. --Julija Gelazis

Product Description
All American has been making pressure canner cookers since 1930 and only All American Pressure Canners have an exclusive, precision machined "metal-to-metal" sealing system. Positive action clamping locks align the cover to the base, forming a steam-tight seal and permits easy opening and closing. Because there are no gaskets, you don't have to worry about a gasket cracking, burning or needing replacement in the middle of a canning project. The All American Pressure Canner 921 can hold 19 pint or 7 quart jars. Perfect for canning large batches of vegetables meat and fish for use during cold months. The USDA recommends pressure canning as the only safe way to can vegetables, meat and fish.

5 out of 5 stars Canner works fine on outdoor burner!   September 6, 2010
farmgirl
I have a glass top stove and was looking for a canning solution - American Canners didn't prohibit using on an outdoor burner like Presto canners so I finally ordered it and gave it a try. It works fine except on 90+days where it will run a little hot and we have to watch it and keep turning down the temperature on the outdoor cooker (it slowly increases on its own). I think its too big for my Coleman camp stove. I haven't had any problems with the lid like other postings described. We used olive oil instead of vaseline to keep the lid lubricated as this was an option in the instructions. I struggled with whether to buy the next size down, but am glad I got this size because of three reasons - 1) seems like bigger size would do better on the outdoor cooker and 2) wanted option for doing bigger batches of pints (just in case) and 3) wanted to use it as a water bath for the quarts. I wasn't sure if I'd ever double stack the pints but then second time using it, I actually did when doing beans. It was nice to have the flexibility to process a bigger batch all at once. It does take longer than you think with start up time, processing, and then cool down time. I think later that I will buy the smaller size canner when I have a new stove. So far we have canned potatoes and green beans with it, and then peaches using it as a hot water bath. Other postings described how heavy it is and while its not light, its not tragically heavy either. It's not like you move it around while its full. Maybe it will be too heavy for me when I'm in my 70's but maybe I won't be canning then either!

5 out of 5 stars so simple!   September 3, 2010

Never having canned before, I did a lot of research on what's out there including cooker/cans that were twice as expensive. Chose this because of reputation, size and features. Excellent product with a very good care book.

Extremely simply to operate even for a neophyte like me. This baby holds a lot and my success ratio on the first two tries was 100%. I did pressure canning of an Italian sauce with meat and then did the boiling method for homemade pickles. Again, all you have to do is simply follow the directions. I would emphaize the importance of filling your jars to between 1/2 and 1/4 of an inch from the top for success.

You will simply love this product. Now you can take some of your favorite items and preserve them for a year or more instead of having to fix them with a lot of frequency.

5 out of 5 stars Canner Cooker   August 27, 2010

I have a canner from 1940 that had no pressure gauge on it. I could not find a replacement and therefore, had to purchase a new one. I am so happy that I did. This one is so much more up to date (of course) and I love it.
I do a large garden each year and love to put up all my own fruit and veggies. This is a wonderful tool.
Thanks so much

5 out of 5 stars Top Notch   August 19, 2010

I love to use my caner to preserve homemade soup. Of course this unit works great, but I was afraid that I would have problems using it on a ceramic top stove. I started it on high until I built steam then lowered the temp slowly (maintaining the jiggle)until I got just below 50% (or a setting of 5)works great no trouble at all. To speed the time it takes to get to good steam I always "hot pack" my jars. Using 3 quarts of water in the bottom of the caner I get to good steam in about 10min. Like I said works great every time!

Incredibly heavy duty- definite commercial quality and grade. Don't even think about getting one of those cheesy low end cheap pressure cookers (like Presto).
The All American is the top shelf pressure cooker.
